It’s always hard to try and say the things that you want to say on your “home page” of your web site. I also realize that there are lots of folks out there doing the same thing I am and the “chatter” can make it difficult to decide between competing products as to which one is really better than the others.

…..but, I just want you to know that Golf Handicap 4.1 is as solid a product as I can possibly make it. I have been working on Sherrill Software Engineering for 10 years now and version 4.1 has been in production for about a year. I am truly proud of the product and it is testing well. I have given copies to all my golfing buddies (my hardest critics) and they all like the product very much.

This is a good product. It works and will give you years of service. I am very proud of my work.

Version 4.1 went away from the language (C#) file coding system (flat files) and is using Microsoft’s Server Compact Database Management System version 3.5 – Including SQL CE 3.5 in the C# source code to manage the data has been very helpful in the overall stability of the program and the retention of the data. Basically, the product has been error free.

Also this new version, under the Help menu item has the ability of looking for upgrades to the software. Thus no more CD distribution nor any “tedious”/ instruction heavy downloads. If there is a new version and you would like to download the new version you are just a mouse click away.

You have my word that the product does what it says it will do and if at any time you are not completely satisfied with the product, just let me know and your money will be completely refunded.

Thanks

Hi All:

Just a quick note to let you know that version 4.1 is available. Several issues have been resolved in this version, mainly I have gone from using C++’s flat files system to using Microsoft’s SQL Server Compact Edition 3.5. Essentially what has changed is the use of an internal Database Management System rather that using a coded flat file system. The program was re-written in C#.

The program has not grown in size and response time time is very similar to earlier versions.

We feel that this is a big improvement over earlier versions with (hopefully) fewer errros and problems.

The price has stayed the same. Times are hard, we get it!

The demo program available for free is the same as was used in 4.0
